In today’s episode I cover how to live stream while applying vocal processing effects on both Mac and PC.
APPLYING VOCAL PROCESSING EFFECTS WHILE LIVE STREAMING ON MAC
On Mac you’re going to use Audio Highjack to apply your vocal processing effects on the fly while recording, and and streaming.
Set up a new session and record from whatever devices you choose. Set up your vocal processing effects in the signal chain, and output to your streaming application of choice. That’s all there is to it.
Make sure you Install your plugins before you open audio highjack.
If you want a great inexpensive package of plugins I highly suggest the Nectar 2 plugin package.
APPLYING VOCAL PROCESSING EFFECTS WHILE LIVE STREAMING ON WINDOWS
On windows use voicemeeter banana.
Live streaming with VoiceMeeter Banana is difficult to explain over a podcast, but you have to select your mic as an input and use the color panel to add a little low end to your vocal. Add a little compression , not too much. And use the gate. It may take a while to get it just right. The settings will be different for everyone.
Select a streaming program like mixlr as your output, or a virtual device, and then use that virtual decide as the input in mixlr.
You can also use “inserts” in voicemeeter banana. An insert allows you to insert vocal processing plugins into the audio signal live as you’re recording. You’ll have to download an application that will allow you to stack your processing effects. One such application is Minihost Modular. Iin Minihost Modular, one sets the Voicemeeter Insert Virtual ASIO as the default device in preferences, then go to Voicemeeter’s System Settings/Options in the menu and select the insert points where you want the signal to return to.
